Mount Moriah Christian Camp was established as a ministry of Temple Baptist Church in Powell, Tennessee. Pastor Clarence Sexton led the church to begin the camp by faith with a vision to stir young people to “Take the High Road” and to strengthen local churches in their efforts to reach young people for Christ.
The high road is not choosing between the good and the bad. It is choosing between the good and the best and always choosing the best. The best is the unending pursuit of Jesus Christ. Mornings are filled with instruction and each day ends with a powerful rally to inspire young people to take the high road in life. Each day is structured so that campers begin with a personal devotional time that includes Bible memorization. Each cabin counselor leads a group devotional time at the close of the day. Group leaders are encouraged to meet with their young people each night to hear their testimonies and pray with them about the decisions they are making. Campers meet each evening for Bible preaching under the open-air tabernacle. On Wednesday evening, the camp service is held at Temple Baptist Church. Campers participate in a testimony service around the bonfire on Thursday night.
The 110-acre camp property is located just four miles from the church and college campuses.
