About us. . . . .

Mount Moriah Christian Camp was established as a ministry of Temple Baptist Church in Powell, Tennessee. Pastor Clarence Sexton led the church to begin the camp by faith with a vision to stir young people to “Take the High Road” and to strengthen local churches in their efforts to reach young people for Christ.

"The high road is not choosing between the good and the bad. It is choosing between the good and the best and always choosing the best. The best is the unending pursuit of Jesus Christ." -Clarence Sexton

Mornings are filled with instruction and each day ends with a powerful rally to inspire young people to take the high road in life. Each day is structured so that campers begin with a personal devotional time that includes Bible memorization. Each cabin counselor leads a group devotional time at the close of the day. Group leaders are encouraged to meet with their young people each night to hear their testimonies and pray with them about the decisions they are making. Campers meet each evening for Bible preaching under the open-air tabernacle. On Wednesday evening, the camp service is held at Temple Baptist Church. Campers participate in a testimony service around the bonfire on Thursday night. Our 110-acre camp property is located just four miles from the church and college campuses.

Located in the beautiful foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, campers and counselors will have the opportunity to draw close to the Lord through daily Bible devotions, memorization time, preaching, and fellowship with other Christians! Also, we can't mention camp without the excitement of competitive games, the pool & waterslide, the fast & furious zipline, and crazy fun skits! Don't miss it!

Testimonials

“We’ve been bringing teens to Mount Moriah for many years now. We have never regretted or been disappointed in that spiritual investment. Food, fun, friendships – all this is important, but what makes Mount Moriah special is the emphasis on faith. Everyone involved from the camp director to the student-staff are all there having a good time, praying with and for campers, leading the unsaved to the Savior, teaching the Word of God, and exhibiting a culture of Christ-likeness which makes for a remarkable camp week. You have fun, but you feel and sense that faith-emphasis every time, which I am grateful for. If you have never brought a youth group to Mount Moriah, let me encourage you to schedule it, pray over it, and get a group together. Do it. Not only will your youth group have a blast, if you come with them, you will get a big blessing yourself. Adults often come back home fired up to live for the Lord, not just the teens. I hope you will make it a part of your yearly youth ministry. God bless the ministry of Mount Moriah!”

Pastor Nathan Housley of LaRue Baptist Church, Hodgenville, KY

“Mount Moriah Christian Camp is a rare kind of camp that places a clear priority on spiritual things while still providing campers with high-quality recreational activities. Because of Mount Moriah, our young people anticipate summer even more, they arrive at camp with the right expectations, and leave having made eternal-altering decisions and lifelong memories. The leadership and staff are hospitable, dependable, and committed to making the camp experience enjoyable for counselors as well as campers. If you have been looking for this kind of camp, I encourage you to pray about sending your young people to Mount Moriah Christian Camp!”

Family Ministries Director Isaac Young of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Hickory, NC

“I highly recommend Mount Moriah Christian Camp for churches and youth ministries looking for a Christ-centered camp experience. As a youth pastor, I appreciate the camp’s strong emphasis on Biblical preaching, spiritual growth, and helping young people develop a deeper relationship with the Lord. The staff are committed to creating an environment where young people can grow spiritually while also enjoying fellowship, activities, and meaningful friendships. The preaching and services challenge teenagers to take their faith seriously and apply biblical principles to their everyday lives. Mount Moriah is an encouraging and enjoyable atmosphere for young people to hear God’s Word and make lasting spiritual decisions. Our young people have benefited greatly from the time spent at camp, both spiritually and personally. I am thankful for  Mount Moriah Christian Camp and would gladly recommend it to any pastor or youth pastor looking for a quality Christian camp for their young people!”
